Public Transportation Re-routing Should Be Realized Soon

Jakarta Deputy Assistant for Transportation, Sunardi Sinaga said, public transportation re-routing is an urgent matter to be realized thus traffic congestion in Jakarta can be solved. Its payment system also needs to change with one time pay system for every trip.

"Currently, residents need to walk far enough from their house to reach public transportation. Thus they prefer private vehicle since it is more effective and efficient," he said, Friday (10/27).

Public Vehicle will Be Re-routed to Apply OK-OTRIP

He affirmed to do route adjustment that can reach to settlements, one time pay system also needs to be applied thus people will prefer to use public transportation since that system is more efficient and economical. 

He explained, all small capacity public transportations such as bajaj, public minivan, and KWK's routes should be in environmental road to settlements. It will be used as main feeder transportation that will direct passengers to medium and big capacity public transportation such as Transjakarta in collector roads and arterial roads.

Resident does not need to pay again for medium/big public transportation service. Vice versa, passengers from Transjakarta who continue their trip using feeder transportation also do not have to pay again.

"All can be done by creating OK-OTRIP system. This system needs to be created comprehensively, including its relation with public service obligation (PSO)," he closed.
